Obituary:  June 17, 1907

"Last Friday, Mrs. A. Cobb of near Oak Grove died from the effects of severe burns inflicted the day before. She was working about her kitchen stove canning berries when her clothing caught fire in some way, and before the flames were extinguished she was burned in a fearful manner.  It is stated that she was at the house alone, and when her clothing caught fire, she ran into the hall to call her son, Mack, who was working a short distance from the house, and the breeze fanned the flames so that she was in full blaze when he reached her. He extinguished the fire quickly as possible, and summoned medical aid, but the burns were so severe that it was evident from the start that recovery was practically out of the question. Mrs. Cobb was 75 years old at the time of her death.  She leaves an aged husband, two grown sons and two married daughters besides other relatives and a host of neighbors and friends to mourn her death.  It can be truthfully said that she was one of the best and noblest Christian women that ever lived in Titus county."
